William Shingleton
June 3, 1947 - April 13, 2023
Tribute
It is with great sadness that we would like to announce the passing of William (Bill) Shingleton on April 13th, he was 75 years of age.
Bill was born to Jack and Wanda in Winnipeg, where he grew up with his sister. He spent his youth with his friends and cousins in West Kildonan and at the lake. He enjoyed playing music and traveling to the West Coast, Australia, and Cuba. Bill’s first profession was with the railroad and his love of trains followed him constantly as they were often incorporated into any gift he was given- it was trains or Beatles memorabilia. His job as a Salesman with Cummins led him out to British Columbia in 1986 which is where he settled with his wife Marilyn. Throughout the 90s the Shingleton Family ran Kritters pet store in Maple Ridge. Bill became widely known in the community, writing a column for the local newspaper about pet care and teaching the kids about customer service and the value of a hard day’s work- his sons Aaron (Dulce), Taylor (Carmen) and Jamie (Amanda), daughter Charity, nephews Harley, Dior, countless friends of the family and work experience students. When the business closed, Bill moved to Mission where he continued working as a furniture salesman at Liquidation World until his retirement. In his later years Bill enjoyed tending to the care of many animals, watching hockey and football, spending time with his grandchildren, Wren, Grace, Genesis, Galilea, Emma, and Callie, going to concerts with his nephew and joining his cronies for coffee at the local Timmie’s. Bill will be remembered for his kindness and generosity but perhaps most of all- his sense of humor by those of us in BC and those in Winnipeg, sister Linda (Fred), nephew Kris, niece Laura, relatives and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Mission Harbour Authority (33428 Harbour Ave, Mission) on what would have been his 76th Birthday- June 3rd, 11am -4pm. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends desire donations may be made to Senior Animals in Need Today Society (saintsrescue.ca) or to a charity of one’s choice.
