Leo Bernard Fitzpatrick

January 13, 1947 - January 21, 2024

Tribute

With great sadness, we announce that Leo Bernard Fitzpatrick, of Mission, BC, passed away surrounded by his four children on January 21st, 2024.

Leo was born January 13, 1947, in Lords Cove, Newfoundland the eighth of 17 children born to Aloysius Fitzpatrick and Annabelle Drake. He is survived by his children Kimberley, Ryan, Adam, and Karly. He was a Poppy to grandchildren Ashley, Nathan, Rylee, Rhett, and Lincoln. He is survived by his sisters Elizabeth, Denise, Selina and Joan, and his brothers Aloysius and John. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who had a special place in his heart.

He was predeceased by his sisters, Lillian, Emma, Mary Jane, Florence, and Elsie, and his brothers Loyola, David, Carl, Norman, and Maurice.

Leo was a hardworking man who spent most of his life commercial fishing from coast to coast where he met and inspired many. A lot of people will remember him as ‘Uncle Leo’. After retiring, Leo spent his time with his children by his side. He enjoyed hunting and fishing for fun. His greatest joy was his grandchildren who all had him wrapped around his finger. Still at the age of 76 he took pride in helping raise his grandchildren, doing school drop offs and never missing a dance class. Leo will be remembered as the most reliable and strong man to those who knew him.

There will never be enough words to write about the 77 years Leo lived, we ask you all to please share a story about Leo. To respect his wishes, there will be no service held.

The family would like to thank the Palliative Care and Christine Morrison Hospice staff for their loving care. In lieu of flowers or any sympathy gifts, please make donations to the Mission Hospice Society in his name. https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/10058. E-cards can be sent to the family at Karly.fitz@hotmail.com.
