Tribute

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Wendy Josephine Hart on July 14, 2019. Born in Carnforth England on Feb 17, 1941 Wendy quickly grew to be a wild spirited young girl, spending many a night and day out romping around with her beloved cousins.

As she grew, she developed an interest in medicine, pursuing a career in psychiatric care and becoming a licensed practical psychiatric nurse. It was during her time working at the Moore Hospital that she met her dearest husband and colleague Gordon Hart in 1964. They married a few years later in 1967.

After three weeks visiting her parents in Ontario, Gordon and Wendy fell in love with Canada. Not long after Gordon received a job offer at Riverview Psychiatric Hospital in BC. So they packed up everything they owned, including two kids, two cats and a dog and moved their family out to BC in 1974.

They settled in the small community of Mission where Wendy got a job working at Abbotsford Hospital as an activity aid. They then moved out to their current home in Hatzic Prarie in 1977. At that time, Wendy transferred over to Mission Memorial Hospital. She continued to work in activity, then moved on to the bath team and eventually to permanent nights as a care aid at the Extended Care Unit.

Wendy retired 35 years later in 2006. She has spent many years since enjoying time with her friends and family and taking a strong interest in her love of animals, birds and wildlife.

She was diagnosed with Cancer in 2018 and lost the battle this July. She is survived by her Husband Gordon, Daughter Beverley, Son Stephen, grand kids Chelsey, Jordan, Gordon, Kevin, Sarah and great grand kids Colton, Aubrey, Scarlet, and Diego.

A graveside service is being held July 19^th at 12 pm at Hatzic Cemetery. To honour her love of animals, we ask that in lieu of flowers a donation be made to the SPCA in Wendy’s name.
