Terence (Terry) Blaker

April 27, 1943 - October 17, 2019

Tribute

It is with great sadness that the Blaker family announce the passing of Terence “Terry” Blaker on October 17, 2019 at the age of 76. After a 6-month battle with cancer, Terry is at peace.

Terry is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Eva, his son Leonard (Rachel), daughters Cheryl and Megan (Kevin), granddaughters Tasha & Aliya, sisters Jacqueline (Kassim) and Maureen (James), and many relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.

Terry was born in England and also lived in Egypt, Australia and Toronto before moving to Vancouver as a young adult. He met his wife Eva in 1967 and lived in Richmond where they raised their family for over 40 years before retiring to White Rock and then Agassiz. As a young family, Terry was involved in the community as a scout leader, soccer coach, and non-profit volunteer. He particularly enjoyed himself being a fan of the many sports his children played and will be remembered by many of his daughter’s teammates as the consummate Soccer Dad.

Terry loved life and meeting new people through his model train hobby, volunteering at the Legion or planning events with his RV club. He was always positive, lived life with a smile on his face and had a hug available for anyone who needed it. Family was always first with Terry and he was an overwhelmingly proud grandpa who loved camping, swimming and exploring with his twin granddaughters. He will be remembered fondly and lovingly with nicknames such as Captain Sunshine, Toby the Clown, the Railway Clown and Captain Funnypants.

A Celebration of Life will be held on the afternoon of November 11, 2019 in South Surrey. Please contact a member of the Blaker family for more details.

For those that wish, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Terry’s name to the BC SPCA.

Terry’s wonderful smiles and hugs will stay with me. I truly valued learning and sharing with him a new Oneness approach to life as a friend in transition about 30 years ago. Appreciated the joy he experienced in being Toby the Clown and spreading this joyful fun to others. Terry’s friendship enriched my life and I will always be grateful to have known him. To his family: I share your sorrow in his loss but believe his bright light will shine on.

From: Irene Freeman
Relation: Terry worked with me on planning a 4-day Good Sam Rally in May but we also knew him from Good Sam outings.

Eva and family,
My sincere sympathy for the passing of a wonderful man. I lost my husband on Oct. 28 so I understand the loss to a family. Terry was so conscientious about finishing his Good Sam tasks last May even though he was sick. I had so much respect for his dedication. I am glad our two husbands were able to visit each other in Abbotsford hospital and now they visit in heaven..
