Shandie May Hildebrand

May 8, 1975 - January 3, 2024

Tribute

Shandie May Hildebrand, aged 48, of Calgary, Alberta, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2024. Born on May 8, 1975, in Calgary, Alberta, to Melodie and Ken Hildebrand. Shandie is survived by her Son Jaden Dueck, and her sister Mindy Reimer.

Shandie’s life was marked by a pursuit of adventure and a deep love for the natural beauty of British Columbia—a love that was developed during her childhood years spent in the province. Her professional journey was diverse; after obtaining her diploma in oil and gas administration, she served the City of Calgary as a by-law clerk and in roles within human resources field. However, her heart longed for the ocean’s call and the freedom of BC’s beauiful landscapes, and escaping the dreaded winter, leading her to move and embrace life in places that she loved, such as Tofino, Hope and Manning Park.

Known for her outgoing personality, Shandie had the unique ability to light up any room she entered. Her humor, amazing smile, and kind-hearted nature made her beloved by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Shandie lived her life with spontaneity and a fearless willingness to try new things. She shared many adventures with her son and his dog, Joey, exploring the great outdoors through hiking, camping, and rafting down the Bow River. Their adventures were a testament to her love for her son and the special bond they shared.

Shandie’s departure leaves void in the hearts of those who loved her. As we bid farewell to Shandie, her spirit of adventure, love for life, and the joy she brought to our lives will forever be remembered.

The family requests privacy during this time of mourning. Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Shandie.

Shandie’s journey through life was a beautiful, but too brief, adventure. As we remember her, let us celebrate the love, laughter, and memories she gifted us.

oh Jaden, I’m so so sorry that you lost your mom so very soon. I am very thankful for the great memories you guys got to build! Her love for you was so deep, she sacrificed much in order to give you a great life. Of course time will allow healing, and for the pain to hurt less sharply. But for now, grieve, talk about her, share her memories and smile about them.
