Tribute

Robert Stephen Dawson

October 30, 1938 – October 8, 2019

It is with great sadness the Dawson family announce the passing of Robert “Bob” Dawson on October 8, 2019 at the age of 80.

Bob is survived by his loving wife Shirley of 58 years, his sons Edward and Randal (Cindy) grandson Brad, granddaughter Laura (Taylor Chambers), great granddaughter Oaklynn and his brother John (Brenda) Dawson and many relatives and friends whom he loved dearly.  He was predeceased by his parents Jesse and Desmond and brother Gerald Dawson.

Bob was a lifelong resident of the Fraser Valley and raised his family in Mission where they still reside.  As a young family Bob was often found at the Mission Leisure Centre playing and coaching minor hockey and he played himself into his “senior” years up until retirement.  Bob retired in 1998 from his occupation as a milk tester.  There are not too many farms in the lower Fraser Valley that Bob was not known to, with whom Bob and Shirley remained lifelong friends with.  Bob loved the farming industry, he loved sitting on a tractor and his work ethics and the high standards he insisted upon were valued by the farming and milk industry.  After retirement Bob was often found at the seniors centre playing “a game or two of crib” and was proud of the few handfuls of winnings.  We know his presence will be greatly missed “at the table”.

A service of remembrance will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, if you wish, please donate to a charity of your choice.
