Richard Stannard

July 15, 1957 - August 30, 2021

Tribute

Richard Warren STANNARD – Rick was born and raised in Vancouver B.C. by his parents Charles and Kay. Rick stayed close with his older brother Brian, even if they were separated by a ferry ride to the island.  After Rick graduated from Killarney Secondary School, he had dreams of racing fast cars and winning championships.  Life had other plans for Rick and after a short career as a corrections officer he started his mobile Locksmith business which had him obeying local speed limits more than he had originally planned, while providing all of his customer with exceptional service. Rick owned and operated AAA Lock & Key from 1980 until 2013 when he retired to spend more time with his family and friends.  It was Rick’s outgoing personality that led him to invite the beautiful lady that lived in the same apartment building over for coffee after they met in the hallway. It didn’t take Rick long not know Denise was the love of his life and with yellow roses in hand he asked her to marry him.  Rick and Denise welcomed two children, Ashley and Ryan into their lives, where he made sure they knew that hard work, trust and honesty would take them as far as they could ever dream of. Rick was happiest on or near the water and spent every weekend with his family at their cabin, fishing, going fast in the boat and keeping track of who fell in the lake the most each year. Rick was beyond proud to welcome his son-in-law Eugenio & his daughter-in-law Tara in to the family where he loved and tease them as much as he did his own children.  When grandchildren started to arrive in Rick’s life, he announced he was too young to be a “Grandpa” and that his grandbabies – Kiara, Christian and Theo would call him Pops, a much more fitting title for the young, cool guy he was. Rick enjoyed his retirement making plans to get back out on the water with his wife Denise, spoiling all of his grandchildren and spending as much time with his family and friends as he could. We raise a glass of wine to you Rick the legend also known as Richard, Lovey, Dad and Pops, rest easy we have the wheel from here.
In lieu of flowers Rick’s Family is requesting donations be made to BC Childrens Hospital in his name.
