October 18, 1936 - December 24, 2020
Tribute
Peter (Karl) Mushrow October 18, 1936 – December 24, 2020 It is with great sadness that Peter’s friends and family announce his passing early in the morning of December 24, 2020, at Langley Memorial hospital at the age of 84 years. Peter was predeceased in September 2019 by Else (Belz) Mushrow, his beloved wife of 57 years, his parents Peter and Mary (Buffett) Mushrow, Else’s parents Frederick and Josefa (Rogg) Belz, brothers-in-law Franz and Heinz Belz, sister-in-law Margaret (Belz) Kluge, sister-in-law Mary (Barter) Mushrow and brother-in-law Ronald Battiste. Peter will always be remembered by his family in Newfoundland, his sister Maxine Battiste, brother Lloyd, brother Garry (Nancy), brother Danny (Emma), and his brother Wayne (Joan) of Middle Sackville, NS, nephew Hermann (Birgit) Kluge of Germany, honorary sister Maureen (Ken) Jones of Chilliwack, and many nieces and nephews. Although Peter and Else had no children, they were “Uncle Pete and Aunt Else” to many children in Germany and from various postings in Canada. Peter will be missed by many friends, neighbours, fellow Sappers, and extended military family that he served with during his 35 years of service which took him to Germany (where he met and married Else January 24, 1962), St John’s Newfoundland, Petawawa and Ottawa, Ontario, and Chilliwack. Peter was especially devoted to the annual commemoration of the 1944 Canadian liberation of Belgium and all his dear friends in Knokke-Heist. Peter Mushrow – Last Post Peter enjoyed a long retirement of nearly 30 years; Peter and Else travelled many times to Germany, spent time at “The Glen,” and maintained a pristine and welcoming home. They were gracious hosts to many friends and family from various places and across the years. Peter enjoyed his fishing in the Fraser River, extended walks wherever he was, playing guitar, singing and sharing his memories of growing up in Port aux Basques Newfoundland. Peter enjoyed visiting with friends and family from afar on “Skype”. Peter (Karl) was so proud of his Mom’s (Mary Lee Mushrow) poetry about life in Port aux Basques. As per Peter’s wishes there will be no service or funeral.
