Peter David Horn

August 1967 – 15 October 2018

Mr. Peter David Horn died suddenly and unexpectedly at his home on October 15, 2018 in Surrey, BC at the age of 51.

Pete is survived by his parents, Jo-Anne & Peter (Surrey) and David & Jackie (Mission); siblings, Paul (Tracy), Patrick, and Pamela (Gord). He leaves behind devoted nieces Chelsea, Tierra and Lauren, and nephews Brenton and David.  He also says good-bye to Maridel and her family, who loved him from the Philippines and filled him with hope for a bright future.  He will also be mourned by countless friends.  Pete was a brother in ILWU Local 502, and will be missed by many of his colleagues as well. He is the first of our family to pass on, and we are shocked by his loss.

Peter was born on August 1^st, 1967 in New Westminster to David and Jo-Anne.  After spending his early childhood in New Westminster, our family moved to Mission.  Throughout his life, Peter lived in both Mission and Surrey, and he maintained strong emotional and social ties to the community of Silverdale.  He was fond of saying that his heart was in our small community and that he felt most at home when here.

Pete graduated from Mission Secondary and went on to a career in mechanics, construction and, later, longshoring.  Peter was a natural and charismatic leader and an incredibly earnest and driven worker.  He was often tasked with leadership duties in his work, and was applauded for his innovative thinking and high standards.

Pete was an accomplished gardener, collector and shade-tree mechanic. He was devoted to his pets and they loved him back.  Most of all, he was a dedicated and loyal friend who would use his assets to help others without hesitation.  He insisted on helping people by fixing cars for little or no money.  He often shared his most treasured finds and passions with others.  He was particularly happy to do that for his family.

A funeral is scheduled for 12:30 pm November 3^rd, 2018 at Bethel Pentecostal Assembly (32729 7^th Avenue, Mission).  All are welcome to attend and celebrate Peter’s life.
