Paul Lyndon Clover

July 3, 1961 - October 5, 2018

Tribute

My amazing husband passed on Oct. 5, 2018. Cancer took Paul away from us.

Paul was born in London, England and moved at the age of 7 years old to Canada. He brought with him the British sense of humour like no other.  Paul was hilariously funny, kind, thoughtful, generous, sharp, extremely curious about everything and was committed to his work.

Paul started his young life in Lynn Valley in North Vancouver, making friends, getting into trouble and all that fun stuff that kids do. The family moved to Langley, where he went to Langley High school and drew many more friends into his circle. Paul started to work at age 14, fueling and washing planes at the Langley airport. He used all the money he made to pay for his flying lessons. After getting his pilot’s licence at Skyways he became a flight instructor for about a year. He got his first job flying as a bush pilot on wheels and skis in Fort Chipewyan, Northern Alberta at Calm Air, and Parsons Airways among others.  Then he got a job at Air BC in 1985 which transitioned later into Air Canada Jazz.

Paul was passionate about anything to do with WW2. He read and amassed history books, watched documentaries, and collected paintings. He enjoyed aerobatics on his Stephens Akro for about 5 years.

The amazing thing was that he could recall and retell so many details about everything he learned.

Paul was eclectic in his many interests. His creative “genius” was exhibited in his many design ideas, and his perfectionist woodworking skills.  He was a consultant in the movie industry when airplanes were involved.  And, let’s not forget about soccer – he played until he could no longer. He treasured his soccer cleats; his jersey’s for many teams; and had season tickets to the White Caps.

Paul was extremely passionate and generous, donating to many causes through the course of his life.

Paul leaves behind his wife Lyse, parents Pat and Terry Clover, sister Shelley and her husband Bill, nephew Kelly and his wife Amanda and baby Hannah. And, let’s not forget all of his friends that he made along the way.

At Paul’s request, in lieu of flowers, please donate to “Doctors Without Borders”.

Although I didn’t know Paul really well, he and Lyse were regular visitors to Linda Lock and Cottage Living and I got to know them both there. I loved his sense of humour, his courage and grace in suffering and his wonderful relationship with Lyse – he was inspirational. I’m holding Lyse and all his family and friends close in thoughts and prayers!

It is difficult to say goodbye to such a unique person. Paul will truly be missed.

Paul was always entertaining to work with from calling management on Sunday mornings at 6:30 so he could advise them on the defects of the company to planning renovations on my house. Great pilot and never a dull moment.

We hears about his exploits as a bush pilot at Parsons Airways before we met him at Air B.C. He was a character through and through.

He shared his passion for aviation history and was always determined he was going to track down one of the caches of “hidden aircraft”from WW2 that was rumored to be buried in various places around the province.

All in all he was a passionate, intelligent person with a unique sense of humor and zest for life. And always had room for a tuna sandwich.

Am so glad that you and Paul found each other Lyse and shared the time together that you did.
