Pamela Kathleen Hayward

December 13, 1951 - June 14, 2022

Tribute

After a two and a half year battle with pancreatic cancer, Pam passed peacefully June 14th, 2022 in Mission B.C.

Born in Calgary, Alberta, Pam lived her life first and foremost caring for those she loved. She was married to the love of her life, Edward until his passing in 2006. Together they raised two daughters (Amber and Robyn) and lived a wonderful full life in Millarville, Alberta. Pam chose to leave the workforce and be home for her daughters and she devoted much of her life to her family.

Life was not always easy for Pam, she was paralyzed at 37 and underwent three groundbreaking spinal surgeries to remove a tumour and regain the use of her legs. She persevered after a lengthy recovery so she could walk again. Her commitment to her family was her motivation through the pain.

Widowed at 55, Pam built a life filled with love. She moved from the farm to a house in Okotoks and later her townhome in High River. She cared for her mother with dementia for many years until her passing. She then worked with Foothills AIM providing respite and care in a position she loved until suffering a stroke.

Pam loved all creatures, her horses (especially the foals) the cats, chickens and dogs that filled her family. She was a devoted dog owner and her little dog Joy will find her love continued in Amber’s care.

Pam loved her family completely and she was so very loved. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her daughters Amber Den Hoed (Kevin) and Robyn Duplisea (Jason) as well as her two beloved grandchildren Tara Den Hoed and Samuel Duplisea. She was pre deceased by her husband Edward Hayward and her parents Fran and Robert Jones.

Pam was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in late 2019. She fought a courageous battle that included surgery and chemotherapy. She made the decision to move with Robyn and her family to Mission B.C. in 2021. A “great adventure” as Pam called it, she was determined to give her young grandson as many memories of her as she could. The past year was filled with love, incredible adventures with her whole family including an epic whale watching trip and a wonderful big family Christmas. Amber and her family made Mission their holiday location to spend as much time as possible with Pam. It was a great year.

Pam passed peacefully in the incredible care of the Christine Morrison Hospice in Mission, after a short stay when she could no longer be comfortable at home.

Pam has requested no service to be held and the family will honour her wishes, content knowing she and Ed have been reunited.
