Tribute

It is with immeasurable sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Myra Elizabeth Cherrington-Kelly “Betty”(nee Gardiner) who passed away peacefully in the early hours of Oct. 13th, 2016. Betty was predeceased by her loving husband Roy, in August, and lost her only sibling, brother Harry, in 1944. She leaves behind four children, Greggory, Bruce, Diane (Terry), Janice (Tony); 11 grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren. Betty was born in Portage la Prairie Jan. 5th, 1925, and spent her early years in both Portage and Winnipeg, where she met and married the love of her life, Roy, in 1945. After a year spent in New Zealand the couple returned to Canada and raised their family, first in Winnipeg and later, from 1962, in Surrey. Mom was an amazingly talented cook, seamstress, and gardener, who remained absolutely devoted to her family. She loved to travel and she and dad logged many hours on the move, especially exploring BC. Mom will be greatly missed but we take comfort knowing she and Dad are now together. A celebration of life for Betty will be held in the Spring.
