Marilyn Mowat
January 20, 1946 - September 30, 2020
Tribute
Mowat, Marilyn Ann
Arrived January 20, 1946 to David and Amy in Victoria.
Left September 30, 2020 in the company of her son Don and daughter Amie in Mission.
Marilyn peacefully left her earthly existence following a short battle with aggressive pancreatic cancer. Prior to diagnosis in August she enjoyed an inlet cruise aboard the Francis Barkley (Lady Rose) with her kids and grandkids.
Marilyn’s life was built on an unending love for the Lord. She lived with a warm heart, a selfless helping attitude and an infectious sense of humour.
In her life, mom gave endlessly and without concerns for her own needs. She cared for several rescued puppies, enjoyed a special Missions trip to Colombia where she aided in teaching knitting to local women, and was known to some as the bread lady.
Mom was an avid genealogical “researcher” to the roots of both her mother’s Swedish heritage and her father’s Scottish ancestry. She attended many family reunions and gatherings where she met many distant relatives who became friends especially John and Shirley Mowatt of Australia who visited Marilyn in Canada on multiple occasions.
Mom and Amie enjoyed “thrifting”, gardening and dehydrating food. Grammie loved watching all her kids and grandkids compete in sports and personal endeavours.
Marilyn leaves behind 3 children (Don, Amie and Lawrence) and 3 grandchildren (Sage, Emilie and Liam). She also leaves her sister Judy, her son-in-law Phil, several nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends. She was predecessed by her Mother Amy, Father Dave and Brother Wayne.
Moms love for small dogs started as a child and included Pepper, Shortcake, Scotty, Shandie, Sneakers and Kado.
Mom will be missed by family, her scrabble ladies, her bible study groups, her friends, and, of course, Kado.
In lieu of flowers, Marilyn would prefer donations to Little Paws (http://www.littlepawsrescue.ca/), support for mission trips or other local charities that help your local communities (shop at a thrift store, support local pet rescues, buy local, share an act of kindness in her memory)
Given the current COVID status in the world, a celebration of her life will be held at a future date.
