Margaret Buker

July 16, 1930 - July 20, 2021

Tribute

A long time resident of Dewdney, Margaret passed away at TRIM on July 20, 2021 having just celebrated her 91st birthday.

Margaret will be missed by her family, sons, Earl (Cyndie), Allan (Janet), Gordon (Wendy) and daughter Valerie Olson.

She was “Grandma Farm” to 12 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.

She is predeceased by Robert, her husband of 59 years, son-in-law Frank Olson, two sisters and three brothers.

Margaret was born in Alberta to Irish immigrant parents. She came to Dewdney at the age of 18 to help her older sister who was expecting her second child. She also took a job at the Dewdney Café where she met her future husband, Robert. They married in 1949 and began raising their family.

In 1951 they moved to Newton Road and cleared their property for farming. Margaret was busy, raising their 4 children and working the Farm, while Robert farmed and drove gravel and logging truck. They farmed together for many years, and eventually their son Gord, took over. Robert passed away in 2007, and Margaret stayed at the Farm where the family continued to gather for holidays and summer get together’s, until she moved to TRIM in 2016.

Margaret was known for her warm smile, bright eyes, and always having a home baked treat on the counter to go with your coffee.

The family thanks the care givers at TRIM for their wonderful attention to Margaret for the past few years.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to TRIM or a charity of your choice.

At Margaret’s request, there will not be a service, but you can take a moment to remember Margaret with a cookie or piece of cake, and a cup of coffee.
