Tribute

Justis Daniel was a great, kind and beautiful person . Always a gentleman and permanent caretaker of Tatlow Park, Vancouver BC While helping to keep the park safe  he would help anyone who crossed his path and invite them in.
Justis saved the life of a Nanny with CRP until help arrived. He was constantly grateful for a donor lung he received  February 2008. He had incredible support from the Transplant team at BC Transplant. Love to the donor’s family.
Justis is missed by his partner Verena (Rena) Pinteric, son Amaris  Daniel, sister Carol Scott and his many friends from local coffee and music  shops.
Born July 14,1944 in Houston Texas, the son of Tessie Dean Carter and Howard Edward Murphy, later adopted by John W. Gilbert.
Justis arrived in Vancouver in the early 1970s from LA.
He was a passionate musician, a prolific songwriter and storyteller with a golden voice.  Self described as “a cat with a long tale”.
As John Christian, he recorded a rock album entitled Christian, and performed later with Jack Velker as Valentino Suede.
