Tribute

Hardy Joseph Sullivan, 84, born April 3rd 1933, died Nov 6th 2017 at Surrey Memorial Hospital. He leaves behind his 2 remaining sisters, Jeannie and Margaret; 4 children, Kelly, Kim, Kurt and Paul; 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and many relatives and friends. He was the 13th child of Jean and Jerry Sullivan from which the Sullivan Station of Surrey BC was named. His family owned the Sullivan General Store and Post Office at 152nd and 64th for many years. He played football for the newly formed Surrey Rams and for the A League Hillside Dairy basketball team in Cloverdale as a young man. He spent 35 years with BC Telephone climbing poles and fixing the old PBX boards before computers took over until he retired. He loved and was deeply loved by so many during his lifetime and as a man of great faith we know he will be just fine now that he is gone. I hadn’t seen Mr Sullivan for a lot of years because I moved to toronto.ten year’s had passed and I came to Surrey stop in to see Paul and Mr Sullivan was outside with his usual smile when someone was coming up the driveway.Hi Mr Sullivan Hi Daryn he remembered my name we talked for 45 minutes.he was an amazing man.All my cars from 16 to 30 years old that I had I always would take him for a spin the one he liked the most was a Morgan convertible he knew more about than me. I remember when we would talk he made me feel like his equal.when he gave advise the way he did it you feel like you figured it out buy yourself almost.i couldn’t say enough about how smart funny kind giving he was.God has got a pretty big pair of shoes to fill.
