Tribute

Adams, Garry Wayne

April 24, 1941 – February 4, 2026

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, grandpa, uncle & friend, Garry Adams, at the age of 84.  Born in Mission to Muriel Collins, Garry was dearly loved from a young age and known for his big laugh, smile and generous spirit.

On Feb. 6, 1960, he married the love of his life, Joanne (Thiessen) and together they raised three children, Calvin, Greg & Gwen and shared their love for family and taught them about responsibility, life skills, friendship, and the simple joy of camping, picnicking & singing together.  Garry loved traveling as well as carving, whittling, painting & reading & especially loved sharing his love of camping & crafting with his Grandchildren Kayla, Nick & Curtis.

At age 14, Garry began working with his uncles in the lumber industry, beginning a life long career defined by hard work and dedication. Garry worked at Whonnock Lumber for over 30 years, retiring in 1993.  He also served with the Mission Fire Dept.  from 1967 – 1982, becoming a Captain & honorary member with 15 years service.

A dedicated volunteer, Garry gave 35 years to the Mission Health Care Auxiliary, was a proud Legion member, and served as an Elder at St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church.  He volunteered countless hours to charitable causes.

A respected  member of the community, Garry was known for his friendly nature and could often be found at Tim Hortons, enjoying conversation and friendship. He will be remembered for his kindness, strong work ethics, unwavering devotion to family, friends & community

He was predeceased by his mother Muriel Collins; his stepfather Richard (Dick) Collins; and his sister Gaye (Adams) McConachie.

He is survived by his beloved wife Joanne; his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Leo, Jack, Harlow & Selah; his siblings Jean Jamieson, Karen (Alan) Vaness, Richard Collins & Jack (Debbie) Collins & many nieces & nephews

He is fondly remembered by all who knew him, is missed dearly & will be held in our memories and hearts forever.

There will be a gathering at a later date
