PESALJ, Evica (Eva)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beautiful wife and mother Eva, at the KinVillage care home in Tsawwassen on May 12, 2018, after a brief illness. Eva was born on January 16, 1936 in Trbunje, Serbia (former Yugoslavia) to Dusan and Persida Jovanovic, and received her degree in Geological Engineering at the University of Belgrade in 1963. In 1964, she married the love of her life, Radomir (Rad), a fellow Geological Engineer, and in 1969, they (along with daughter Maja) emigrated to Canada. She worked for INCO for several years and was the first woman to work at their open pit mine in Thompson, Manitoba. In 1980, Eva and her family moved to Fredericton, New Brunswick and then in 1985, to Tsawwassen, where she enjoyed a quiet, happy life with Rad and their beloved Wire Fox Terriers. Eva was a Lifetime Member of the Delta Hospital Auxiliary — volunteering at both the gift and thrift shops over the years — and was
active in Beta Sigma Phi for several decades. She made many friends
throughout her life and will be remembered for her thoughtful, caring
nature. Mom was kind and gentle and had a keen intellect; she had many interests and loved to read books on any topic. She was industrious, self-disciplined and never complained about her health or let anything stop her from gardening, housework or volunteering.

Eva will be deeply missed by her loving husband Rad, daughter Maja
Furlong (Jamie), sister Milanka Arsenijevic, relatives and in-laws in
California, Manitoba, New York, Spain, Montenegro and Serbia, and many friends around the world. Grateful thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Delta Hospital and KinVillage for making Mom’s last  weeks as comfortable as possible. A Celebration of Life will be  announced later this summer. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions  may be made to the Delta Hospital and Community Care Foundation.
