Dennis Walton

September 27, 1951 - April 15, 2026

Tribute

Dennis Walton, age 74, passed away on April 15, 2026 after a brief struggle with dementia and sepsis.  Born on September 27, 1951 in New Westminster, BC, Dennis grew up on the beach, residing in White Rock, BC, and surrounding areas for the duration of his life.  You’d often find young Denny on the beach in and around Marine Drive hanging out at his Dad’s gas station, swimming, fishing, building sandcastles, messing with boats, bikes and peddle cars and even sledding down Oxford with his big brother Ted and little sister Suesie, if they let her tag along 😉  He was a fun-loving Brother, Father and Friend – always up for an adventure.  Dennis was known in his early life as a devoted father, husband, and hard worker who brought warmth and love to his family, always emphasizing the importance of family – spending quality time together and making memories.  He was known for the many photos he took on family trips and for the massive effort he put into making sure we all stayed connected and forever cherished our times together.   He also focused a lot on instilling the importance of reputation and personal responsibility in us kids.  He worked for Shaw Cable and its various preceding Cable Companies in White Rock for approximately 35 years.  During the early years of his 38 year marriage to June Walton, he gave his heart to Jesus and was a vibrant presence in his wife and children’s lives, creating cherished memories.  He absolutely fell in love with Jesus, spending lots of time in the Word.  He particularly loved the books of Psalms and Proverbs.  He was also rarely without a copy of Our Daily Bread Devotional.  Home life, family trips, kids’ sports, and WRCA Church and School all intertwined to build an enduring framework for his legacy.  The foundation of his early parenting left a lasting impact on his children, and he will be dearly missed.  We’re fondly reminded of him daily in the faces of his grandchildren.

He is survived by his former wife, now June Thomson, and their 4 children and 13 grandchildren:  1) Alanna Dodd (Scott) – Taylor, Aiden, Josiah, Zachariah, April & Caleb.  2) Rowan (Robert) Walton (Former Spouse Debbie) – Rebekah & Matthew.  3) Nathan Walton (Robyn)  – Aislen, Nyla & Cosette.  4) Christina Walton (Sebastien) – Ezra & Levi, also survived by his sister – Susan Rattigan, Sister in Law – Cathy Walton, and nieces and nephews.  Preceded in Death by his parents, William Walton and Marjorie Helman, and his brother Edward Walton.

A Celebration of Life will be held on what would have been his 75th Birthday, Sunday September 27th 2026, to honour Dennis and the life that he loved.  Location and details TBD.
