Obituary for Caroline Fitch (née McIlrath)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Caroline Jane Fitch (née McIlrath), who passed away on July 3, 2026, at the age of 82.

Caroline was born on June 17, 1944, in Ballymoney, Northern Ireland, and spent her early years in Maghera before immigrating to Canada in the early 1970s, where she built her life and raised her family in Langley, BC.

Caroline, beloved wife, Mum, and Nan, is survived by her husband, George; her children, Andrew (Petra), Nicola (Paul), Julie (Blair), and Alison (Al); her stepdaughters, Susan (Rob) and Heather; and her cherished grandchildren, Eja, Tau, Kallan, Tanner, Ani, Charlotte, Fraser, and Danica. She was predeceased by her infant daughter, Caroline.

She will always be remembered for her strong spirit, quick wit, fierce independence, and love for her family. Time spent with her close friends and grandchildren brought her immense joy, as did any occasion when the entire family could gather together. She especially looked forward to her excursions with George, including their annual, and often more frequent, trips to Vancouver Island, particularly Victoria and Tofino.

The memories shared around family gatherings will be treasured for years to come and she will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
