Betty Lee Barnes
January 22, 1944 - January 7, 2023
Tribute
Betty Barnes, 78, of Aldergrove, passed away peacefully, January 7, 2023, with family at her side. Born to Harry & Aira (Rantella) Elliott, January 22, 1944 in Vancouver, BC; she is survived by 4 children: Lynne (Leonard) Fry of Mission, Burns Le Pine of Vernon, Debbie (Steve) Baylie of Surrey, Brenda Zatorski of Niton Junction, AB. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, sister Bonnie Hudon & Glenise (Chris) Hart. Betty was predeceased by her parents, her brother, Sonny Elliott and her son, Harry (Kathy) Le Pine.
Betty was immensely proud of her family and loved occasions that brought her large family together – her favorite season being Christmas. She will be remembered for her fondness of Betty Boop, an enduring love of Elvis, owning and flying an ultralight aircraft (in spite of being afraid of heights), ceramics, painting & giving generously of her time to friends and neighbors. She was a member of the OC (Original Crew) of Sunrise Poultry and worked there for many years supervising various departments, and forging many life-long friendships.
She had a love of crafting that found her starting an in-home ceramics studio where she took great pleasure and pride in teaching others the art of ceramics. She was an integral member of the Pioneer Park community through organizing the annual craft fairs, chairing the Social Committee, heading the Poker Club and volunteering/participating in numerous other activities over the years. In recent years, she took a keen interest in making beaded jewelry and acrylic paintings on canvas. She captured landscapes, flowers and pets of family & friends. Betty’s smile, warmth and giving spirit will not soon be forgotten; she will be dearly missed by family & friends.
In lieu of flowers, do something nice for someone, she would like that.
