Bernhard (Bernie) Vomberg

March 27, 1937 - May 6, 2020

Bernhard Vomberg

March 27, 1937 – May 6, 2020

With great sadness we announce the sudden and peaceful passing of Bernie at his home in Hope BC.  Born in Germany, he immigrated to Canada at a young age. He is predeceased by his parents, son Glen, and son in law Paul Ovesen. He is survived by Lilly, his loving wife of 36 years; son John (Roz), daughter Kathleen (Pierre), step daughters Dawn (Lyle), Wendy, Laurie (Max), special sister-in-law Anita (Rick). His grandchildren; Ray, Christopher, Eric, Angie, Kyle, Garrett, Shane, Cody, Dylan, Chris, Candice, and Breanna.  Many much loved great grandchildren, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Bernie apprenticed for his mechanics degree in Germany and completed his master mechanic and hydraulics training in Canada.  He was a dedicated mushroom hunter and wrote a do-it-yourself guide to locating, harvesting and selling pine mushrooms.  His hobbies were many and varied: amateur artist, hiking, camping, fishing, hunting, gardening, rock artistry, endlessly checking the river for gold, travelling, photography, meeting people, telling stories, and talking … talking … talking!  His most recent hobby – grapes!

At peace with his beloved “beest” Frou Frou and all his four legged friends who have gone before.
