Tribute
Ann Catherine Murdoch
March 12, 1953 – April 15, 2025
After weeks of pain, Ann passed quietly in her sleep to the next realm, with the tender assistance of the Doctor’s and staff of Christine Morrison Hospice. As Ann had wished, her interment was a private event.
A Celebration of her Life and of her Passing will be held at a later date at which time sweet memories can be shared amongst all who knew her, and with her husband of 41 years Brian, and with family: Nathan (Rachel; Maisie, Piper and Norah); Joel and Lucy; Matthew (Kyla; Rowan and Gwen). She always wished her family and friends to remember her with joy, not with sorrow. Memories can also be shared in the meantime on the web site of Bakerview Crematorium and Funeral Home: bakerviewcrematorium.com
During her decline in health and her weeks in Hospice care, acknowledgement must be made of the support and prayers not only of her many friends, but of her siblings: sister Dawn and her husband Doug and their family in Kelowna; brother Phillip; and brother Glen and his wife Patty in Winnipeg.
With her husband Ann ran Murdoch’s Bookshoppe as an open store in downtown Mission from 1993 to 2013, and on then on the internet for a further 10 years. Her Faith, and her work within the Baha’i community of Mission, were central to all she did, and which informed her devotion to family. Her service to others included her various crafts, her work for the Downtown Business Association and involvement in the Renaissance Faire, her involvement with events at the Mission Museum and Archives, and her support of the Lifetime Learning Society.
Contributions in her honour can be made to your favourite charity.

Relation: Friend
I met Ann in 1972 when we both worked as tellers at the CIBC at the University of Manitoba. A group of us became friends, and had fun at work and outside of work. Ann and I always stayed in touch, through her moves to Alberta, then B.C., and my move to B.C. Even though we were both in B.C. we never re-connected in person until Martin and I moved to Chilliwack in 2007. We would drive to Mission, drag Ann away from the bookshop, and go for lunch at the Chinese buffet, leaving Brian to man the store. Somewhere along the way, through Christmas craft sales and open houses, we graduated to going out for breakfast every few months. Brian and Martin would spend the time laughing, and Ann and I caught up on our mutual love of birds, embroidery, jigsaw puzzles, etc. It is rare to have a 50 + year friendship, and we had hoped it would go on for many more years to come. Sadly, that is not the case. Ann will be sorely missed, and always loved.

My good memories of Ann go back to the early 1970s, when we both worked at CIBC University of Manitoba Campus with Evelyn! My heartfelt condolences to you all; so sorry to hear.
